Electrical Repair in Forest Hill
A breaker that won't stay on. An outlet that went dead. Lights that dim when the AC kicks in. We find what's causing it, fix it right, and tell you straight if anything else in your home needs attention soon so you can plan for it.

Small Problems Are Cheaper to Fix Early
Most electrical trouble starts small. A loose connection warms up a little each time it carries load. A worn breaker trips a bit easier every summer. Left alone, those small things turn into burned wires, melted outlets and a repair that has to happen on the worst possible day.
We're licensed and insured electricians, and we've been doing this work for 5 years. Our repair visits are about two things. First, fix what's wrong today. Second, show you what we saw while we were in there, so you can decide what to handle now and what to set money aside for later.
No pressure on the second part. Some homes just need the one fix. If that's yours, we'll tell you.
What a Repair Visit Covers
Finding the actual fault
We test the circuit with a meter, open boxes and check connections until we find the real cause. Swapping parts until something works is not how we do it.
Outlet and switch repair
Dead, loose, warm or sparking outlets and switches get replaced, along with any scorched wire ends behind them. We fit GFCI protection where code calls for it, like kitchens, baths, garages and outside.
Breaker and circuit problems
A breaker that keeps tripping is telling you something. It may be carrying more than it was sized for, a damaged wire may be touching where it shouldn't, or the breaker itself may be tired after years of use. We sort out which one it is and fix that, instead of flipping it back on.
Lights and fixtures acting up
Flickering, buzzing or fixtures that quit get traced back through the switch, the box and the wiring. Often it's a loose splice, and that's a quick fix.
Outdoor circuits
Exterior outlets, yard lights and circuits to sheds or pumps take a beating from heat and rain. We repair damaged boxes, covers and wiring so they're sealed and safe.
A written list of what we noticed
Before we leave, you get notes on anything else we saw, sorted by what needs doing soon and what can wait.
Signs Your Home Needs Electrical Repair
Breakers that keep tripping
One trip can be a fluke. Repeat trips mean the circuit is overloaded or something on it is failing. Resetting it over and over just hides the problem.
Warm or discolored outlets
A cover plate that feels warm or has brown marks points to a loose or overheating connection. Stop using it and get it looked at.
Lights that dim or flicker
Dimming when a big appliance starts can be normal in a small way. Steady flicker, or dimming across several rooms, usually means a loose connection somewhere upstream.
Buzzing, crackling or a hot smell
Electrical work should be quiet. Sound or a burning plastic smell from a switch, outlet or panel is worth a visit soon.
Outlets that stopped working
Sometimes it's a tripped GFCI in another room. If resetting those doesn't bring it back, there's a broken connection to find.
How Your Repair Visit Goes
- 1
You call and tell us what's going on
We ask what you're seeing, when it started and what's on that circuit. Then we book a service visit at a time that works for you.
- 2
We test before we touch
On site, we look at the problem area and the panel, and test the circuit. We explain what we found in plain words and what the fix involves.
- 3
You approve the price, then we fix it
You hear the cost before work starts. We make the repair, cover floors where we're working and clean up after.
- 4
We check it and walk you through it
We test the repaired circuit under load and show you it's working. Then we go over the list of anything else worth planning for, like a torque and clean visit or a look at the panel.
What Moves the Cost of a Repair
Every repair is priced on what we find, and you hear the price before we start. Most of the cost comes down to how long it takes to locate the fault and what has to be replaced. Here's what makes the biggest difference.
- How hard the fault is to find
- A bad outlet in plain sight is quick. An intermittent problem hidden in a wall or attic takes more testing time.
- Access
- Wiring in an open attic is easy to reach. Hot summer attics, tight crawl spaces or finished walls take longer and sometimes need patching.
- Parts needed
- A standard outlet costs little. A GFCI or AFCI breaker, or a run of new wire to replace a damaged section, adds to it.
- Damage behind the problem
- If heat has cooked the wire behind a device, we cut back to good copper or replace the run. We show you before we do it.
Electrical Repair Questions

Why do my breakers keep tripping?
Usually it's one of three things: too much running on one circuit, a short or ground fault somewhere on it, or a breaker that's worn out. We test to find out which. The fix might be moving a load, repairing a wire or replacing the breaker. Sometimes the answer is a new circuit.
Should I fix it now or can it wait?
It depends on what it is. Anything warm, scorched, buzzing or smelling hot should be handled soon, and you should stop using it until then. A light that flickers now and then or one dead outlet in a spare room is less pressing, but it won't fix itself. We'll tell you honestly which group your problem falls in so you can plan around it.
Is a warm outlet something to worry about?
Yes. Outlets shouldn't feel warm. Unplug what's in it, don't use it, and book a visit. It's usually a loose connection that's starting to overheat, and it's a simple fix when caught early.
Will you try to sell me a new panel?
Only if your panel is actually the problem, and we'll show you why. Plenty of repairs end with the one fix. If we see something that will need work down the road, we write it down so you can plan and budget for it on your own schedule.
Do you pull permits for repairs?
Swapping a bad outlet or switch for the same kind usually doesn't call for one. Bigger jobs, like replacing a long stretch of wire or adding a circuit, may. If yours does, we take care of the paperwork and get the inspection scheduled with whoever oversees your area. You'll know before we start, not after.
